“Talk of roots under the snow” variant 1 is a work made with the technique of linocut, that is, the engraving of the matrix on linoleum. The matrix has been inked freehand, for this is a work made in monotype; monotype means that there is only one copy. The print is “live”; it means it has no white edges.
The project started with the invitation to participate in an exhibition-test on a particular type of linoleum: the linoleum produced by the Tarkett factory in Narni. Tarkett produces an absolutely natural linoleum, continuing an operating tradition as early as 1800; inspired by the colors used by the factory, the curators of the exhibition decided to represent the seasons and their chromatism. Together with the work will also be exhibited the matrices, which are always a show, and a short haiku composed by the artist. My choice was for the winter, for the life that survives hidden under the snow. Also for this project I started with an idea and I continued following the various creative drifts…then the variants to the original suspect idea will be numerous 🙂
