The Queen of the Seas is an artist’s book inspired by the homonymous poem by Claudio Maioli. The poetry has a surrealist cut, and I have gladly bent the classical tradition of the portraits in frame to this challenge… She is beautiful and terrible, and instead of a stout stoat proudly holding a redfish. The declination of this portrait -in different techniques, with different yields- accompanied by the handwriting constitutes the artist’s book. The circulation is 10 copies + 2 copies for the authors; printed on Tiepolo paper 290 gr. and bound by hand at the PecoraNera art studio.
La regina dei mari
L’amore mio non teme niente, è forte e resistente,
ama la caccia grossa e i poteri della mente.
Basta che si concentri un poco e senza fare fuoco
pantere e gattopardi soccombono al suo gioco,
anche la sera tardi:
invece del fucile usa gli sguardi.
Potrebbe far fortuna piegando le stoviglie alla
televisione
ma non ama la fama
e se il destino chiama non risponde,
si getta tra le onde e insegue un delfino.
La rivedo al mattino, tutta cinta di fronde:
sembra un mostro marino.
“Ma dove sei stata? Ti cerco da ore, sei tutta
bagnata.”
Per tutta risposta mi porge la posta.
Seduta sul bordo del letto,
scrollandosi i baffi mi molla due schiaffi e mi dà
dell’inetto.
“Non fare il galletto, i patti eran chiari: io son la
Regina dei Mari.”
Sconfitto da tanta evidenza,
le prendo una lenza impigliata tra i denti un
po’ radi.
“Ci vuole pazienza” mi dico “io l’amo.
In tutta coscienza, non posso lagnarmi
se colta da un raptus o punta da un cactus
si butta ogni tanto nel mare: avrà il suo daffare.”
E mentre la penso giuliva tra alghe e murene,
un coro di mille sirene
allevia le pene di chi come me non ha pace.
Allora la sogno, procace, col sesso rapace e capace.
Mi infilo nel bagno e lo sguardo si posa su un ragno che tace.
Di colpo la vasca è un veliero che porta in Alaska.
Le foche e i leoni marini mi frugano in tasca
mentre un tricheco mi guarda di sbieco:
non è una minaccia,
lo sa che non amo la caccia e neppure la pesca.
Bisogna che esca da questo torpore
e ritrovi al più presto il mio amore,
magari in un banco di orate
o all’aeroporto di Linate
e se una nube improvvisa si addensa
al ristorante della Malpensa,
in una toilette di Fiumicino,
in mezzo a una pista di Capodichino,
alla dogana di Ciampino con una triglia nel taschino.
Ormai stremato da tanto viaggiare
esco dal bagno e continuo a sognare.
Ma d’improvviso sento un rumore:
son gocce, mi cambia l’umore, il mio amore è tornato
e ancora bagnato mi si tuffa nel cuore.
